Who This Is For

You don't need to know what a plugin is, what WordPress means, or why your site loads slowly on mobile. That's my job. What you do need is a website that brings in customers, stays reliable, and doesn't make your business look amateur.

I work with local businesses and organizations across Vancouver and BC. The common thread isn't the industry, it's the problem, their website isn't doing what it should. If yours isn't either, I can fix that.

Why I'm Good At This

I started building websites in grade 7: Counter-Strike fan sites, coded from scratch. Through high school I kept going: Python, Java, every CS course available. Eventually I turned that obsession into formal training, earning certificates with distinction from both BCIT and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, with a Computer Systems Technology diploma at BCIT starting this fall.

But credentials don't fix your site. Habits do. I test locally before touching live environments. I optimize every asset. I account for every screen size. When something breaks — and eventually, something always does — I fix it. That's the standard I hold myself to on every project.

What is ihawp?

"ihawp" stands for I Have A Web Problem. I first used the name in 2019 competing at TwitchCon Twitch Rivals in San Diego, playing Fortnite at a professional level. Competitive gaming at that level demands obsessive preparation, precision under pressure, and zero tolerance for "good enough."

That's the same mindset I bring to every website. When you have a deadline, a launch, or something that's just broken and needs to be fixed, I don't cut corners. I show up prepared and I execute.

Technical Philosophy

I'm particular about performance. When a site loads, nothing* should flash, shift, or stutter. Every element should appear exactly where it belongs, at the right time. This means optimizing file sizes, ordering JavaScript properly, and testing at every screen size.

My process is methodical: test locally, implement incrementally, verify each change before moving forward. Whether it's WordPress or a custom build, I account for every pixel on screen. If you ask me where an element will be at any viewport size, I can tell you.

This site uses no external font packages (zero font requests) to eliminate the flash of unstyled text. Small optimizations like this compound into sites that feel faster and more professional. That's the ihawp standard.

*External fonts and resources will always cause some flash. The solution? Avoid them when possible, or optimize aggressively when they're necessary.

How I Work

I'll tell you upfront what something will cost, how long it will take, and if there's anything I haven't done before. You'll get regular updates, straight answers, and no jargon unless it's genuinely necessary.

If something takes longer than expected, I'll tell you before it's a problem. If something breaks, I fix it. I'm building a business on being reliable, which means your experience working with me matters as much as the site I deliver.

Why Work With Me

Honest Communication

I'll tell you what's realistic, what it'll cost, and what I'd do if it were my business. No fluff.

Clean, maintainable code built to last. No shortcuts that become your problem six months later.

No Surprise Invoices
